Mediocre Brawler, but plays nice and challenging and has a few design perks
This review is for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version

At first, I found this to be quite underwhelming. The graphics and music are average. But enemy logic and attacks are quite varied. I found this one to be REALLY hard and have a touch time imagining most people completing it without an emulator. enter image description here
What makes this somewhat mediocre (but also fun, IMO) beat em up is you actually play through the game as the 'returned supermen' in accordance with source lore (at least as best i can recollect) each of the supermen have slightly different attacks. Also each of the characters you play through are actually progressive better, stronger attacking characters. For this alone I think the game deserves a star. It also has other creative bits like these wonky and weird horizontal SHMUP stages that show up every now and then (l find that they look quite silly but they're actually fun!)

A mediocre beat em up. I honestly feel hard-pressed to find anything redeemable about it. I guess the graphics are OK but it reeks of mediocrity in everything else.

Completed on emulator, 3 hours. Last stage is kind of difficult, but at least you have unlimited continues.

Beat. It did not seem to have difficulty levels. I mostly used the standard punch from slightly below and occasional jump attack for multiple enemies and vehicle guys. The ranged attack does not do enough damage but it can stun regular enemies, allowing you to close and get a free attack. I did not use it much but bosses move out of the way and I exploited that to make 1 boss walk into a landmine in the corner of the screen. I really enjoyed the tactics behind the different enemy types; they are all so very different and you need to prioritize the biggest threats. I killed flyers first by flying myself to stay out of reach from the others. Landing was very hit or miss though because you can't change lane in the air; took a bit of save state scumming to land without being hit. I liked weaving around making the enemies hit each other with friendly fire, so I killed melee enemies first and usually left the ranged ones for later. The rolling robots were the least threat because their attack was easily jumped over. The shoot em up levels were so easy as to be …

I liked weaving around making the enemies hit each other with friendly fire, so I killed melee enemies first and usually left the ranged ones for later. The rolling robots were the least threat because their attack was easily jumped over. The shoot em up levels were so easy as to be pointless; maybe if they didn't give health pickups every several seconds. The early bosses were fairly easy but the later ones were a pain in the ass. They often powered through my combos putting my ass on the ground, even if I got the 1st hit. They counter jump attacks and hit hard. Beating them was a tedious prospect of save state scumming to get my attacks just right to where they did not power through, but I don't understand how to accomplish it. I did not like the story bits where you beat a boss only for him to get a scripted win after anyway.

One of the better beat em ups. Almost as good as Batman Returns.
