Just play this year’s NHL. This game is good just no reason to play it.

I'm never entirely sure what to rate hockey games because I don't play them every year. I pick one up maybe every 4 years or so, and I always really enjoy them, but I still really only require a season mode to be happy. It's awesome having so many teams and modes though, but generally speaking as long as I can create a couple players and put my team through a season I'm happy. Be A Pro and Be A GM are still awesome modes however, and the mechanics here are on point. I can't tell you if it's any better or worse than previous entries because I never played the last few; my last one was NHL '12 which I also loved.

Hockey games are so advanced at this point that you actually have to play hockey. You can still get away with some wonky video game things on lower difficulties but when you increase that it gets significantly harder and makes me feel inadequate. I hear that there's still problems with the online aspect but I don't play online anyway so I can't comment.

Fuck it, I'm giving it a 9 outta 10.
