A lighthearted hybrid of a point-and-click adventure and a metroidvania platformer, the game takes place in a spooky, ancient Hagmore School of Magic on the night of an important ritual. The preparations are sabotaged, and you, Belle Macfae have been scapegoated into fixing it.

agersant's review of Mystik Belle
  • Interesting fusion of a metroidvania with the item-combining puzzles of retro adventure games
  • Well-executed pixel-art, with lots of unique assets and animations
  • Anecdotal combat and platforming
  • Sometimes a little to obtuse, easy to get stuck if you missed an item

Adventure Game/Metroidvania Hybrid
This review is for the PlayStation 4 version

I’ve been interested in this game for a while because I liked the pixel art and I finally sat down to play it. It’s an interesting blend of Metroidvania and Adventure Game like Maniac Mansion. It’s a short game, which you can beat in 3-4 hours, although it does have some obtuse puzzles due to objects not always being obvious to find. However I really enjoyed my time with it and look forward to the sequel which hopefully can flesh out the good ideas and iron out some annoying aspect that felt archaic and straight out of the 8-bit era.

Pros:

-Very nice pixel art -Charming character and funny dialogue. -Clever blend of genres, and they mostly complement each other.

Cons:

-Map can be annoying to backtrack in. -Some very obtuse puzzles can really slow down the game in a frustrating way -Map is not very clear and I could not remember where certain rooms were several times. -Certain areas have fairly clumsy design that are a hindrance to the pace of the game.

7.8/10

It's a point and click item combining game disguised as a platformer,it has amazing pixelart and a charming story to booth,I wouldn't call it special in terms of gameplay (dashing is still kind of broken) but a fun experience nontheless.
