In Deadpool the player takes control of the loud-mouthed, foul-mouthed, merc-with-a-mouth Wade Wilson (a.k.a. Deadpool). While on out on a contract to kill a corrupt media mogul, Mister Sinister intervenes and kills him instead, drawing the ire of Deadpool who then vows revenge only to stumble upon a bigger plot which could spell the end of humanity. With the help of some of the X-Men such as Wolverine, Rogue and Domino along with a buddy from the future, Cable, they band together to stop Mister Sinister and his group of Marauders (Arclight, Blockbuster and Vertigo) from succeeding.

Deadpool - Xbox 360

While our Australian friend Aaron was visiting the states, we decided to collaborate on a Deadpool play-through. This was fitting as we're both admins for a Deadpool Facebook page with 15,000+ members. We figured this collaboration would be something amusing for our followers on the DP page as well as the current viewers of our youtube channel, Minus World Gaming.

At first, Deadpool was entertaining but we ran into a major glitch very early on in the game where Deadpool refused to answer his ringing phone to progress the story, then he wouldn't stop answering it which caused the cut-scene of a conversation between him and Nolan North (his actual voice actor) to loop. As we advanced in the game we were less and less amused by the dialogue and antics, and we grew more infuriated with the repetitive gameplay. No amount of legal Washington state cannabis could make the game amusing after a few short hours.

The game was so hard to play, we've not even finished editing all of the episode for our channel and the gameplay was recorded 2 1/2 months ago. It's a good game for major Deadpool fans, as the story is wacky enough to …

Drbeatboxnik's review of Deadpool
This review is for the PlayStation 3 version

It’s fine. I liked the game way more when it came out originally but this brand of Deadpool humor kind of annoys me now and that makes it more difficult to ignore the repetitive gameplay and combat. However it’s still mostly fun to play, pretty short, and the Death sequences were cool. If you’re a big Deadpool fan, it’s worth a try but otherwise the world of melee-shooters has come a long way since 2013.

Mindless Hours of Button Mashing

You want Deadpool? You want a video game? You want something fun? This is none of those things. Deadpool is literally a 4th wall breaking video game about Deadpool trying to get a video game studio to make a video game about himself. It uses the expected humor from the comic books to reel you in but falls flat when you get to the core of the game itself: button mashing. Literally nothing else matters. I got so frustrated by how easy more of the game was that by the time I reached the end I was bashing my controller because the final boss was unbalanced (harder than the rest).

Save yourself the pain of how lazy the production value is. It would take you a single day to complete this sex-fueld action game with X-Men character cameos.

Come For the Comedy, Stay if You Can Tolerate the Mediocre Gameplay

After enjoying the Deadpool movie and learning there was an equally as funny game with the "hero", I decided to check it out. After playing it, I can say the game definitely delivers with its outrageous comedy, but if it weren't for that, it wouldn't really have anything going for it.

The gameplay has a few unique ideas I enjoyed, such as being rewarded currency for combos and a regenerating health system for Deadpool's regenerative powers, but it mainly just consists of button mashing for melee attacks and simple aiming for guns. It doesn't require much skill, and would get old quickly if it weren't for the humorous dialogue that kept me pushing forward.

I also disliked the game's level design. The game is linear, but the maps feel like they're designed for a nonlinear game; there are multiple visible paths and corridors that look like they can be entered but are blocked off by invisible walls. This made traversing levels confusing, as I would often go around in circles after being mislead by these "fake" paths.

It is also worth noting that, at least for my PS3 copy, there were several performance issues. The framerate would drop regularly, and …

Overall, Deadpool is a mediocre hack n' slash game that makes up for its design flaws with its writing and voice acting, which made me laugh throughout the whole game. If you are a fan of Deadpool, or comedy in general, I'd recommend this. Otherwise, stay away.

Jokes were funny and what I expected from Deadpool. I'm disappointed it wasn't Ryan Reynolds (or someone who sounds kinda similar) voicing him so that brought it down a couple of stars for me. I also felt the enemies were a tad bit repetitive for my liking. Overall, a decent game and worth a play through if you are a Deadpool fan. I doubt I would play it again though.
