How is this game free

For anyone eagerly waiting for portal 3(eventhough i doubt its gonna happen) this is for u peeps.I am completely shocked on how good this game was considering it as a mod.Since it was a mod i didnt expect too much but i was blown away by how good the puzzles were and also surprisingly had a good enough story to keep u playing. The story takes place between portal 1 and 2 mostly.Def give it a shot if u loved portal games.

whiterabbit's review of Portal Stories: Mel

it's pretty good for a mod that costs a total of $0. the voice acting is a bit ehhh and the puzzles are mental gymnastics incarnate, but it's a good time

Pfff.

Big thanks to @Nelemania for making me aware of this community mods existence. It's incredible so far. So much charm, humour, and character just in the opening alone, and all for free? Can definitely see why this has overwhelming positive reviews!

Holy Hell this one is rough. Was really in the mood for more Portal, but this is just Cringe-apalooza 2020. The game tries desperately to be funny. Is is not. Not even slightly. The acting is painful, and they made a really big mistake in choosing CAVE FUCKING JOHNSON as a main voice over. They can't replicate his speech style. They don't have J.K. Simmons doing his voice. It comes off as a miserable, sophomoric attempt to be funny. All they had to do was make the narrator anybody else and it wouldn't be half as bad. They think they're making him believable because he keeps saying "science boys" and "bean counters." I didn't even get to one proper puzzle. I played the first 20 minutes of it and cringed out of my pants because of the piss-poor writing and Cave Johnson impression.

Such a bummer, because clearly a lot of work went into this mod. Look, everyone, if you're going to try to be funny, you better actually be funny.

such a good game, professional and official-looking in every aspect. i found myself wishing i could give the developers money for it.
