Short, Sweet, The Nicest Surprise Of The Mysterious Adventures Series

Play: 8/10 Wow this was very sparse ha. I like this 1982 trend of way more terse text adventures :-p "I'm by a rock Altar" etc. Most of them are one sentence it seems, tbh. The inventory management and treasure-collect-treasure-drop-off loop definitely gave me classic adventure vibes. I always appreciate when there's no surprise aspects or petty RNG deaths in a text adventure :-p Fun when the "combat" is really just determined by what weapons/items you have, rather than pure chance. I know, I'm lazy. And it could have gotten boring that way, especially with how much navigation it has and how sparse its descriptions are, but it has a special quality to it that kept me going--plus it was the right length imo.

Feel: 8/10 Wayyyy too much navigation for my taste in text adventures. This Mysterious Adventures series is very hit-or-miss. This one kept surprising me, in how it stayed fresh and yet incredibly basic/classic tbh. It felt almost like an RPG when I got the Ixion Shield as a reward from the Emperor. And you know I lovvvve when you get that 100 out of 100 report/score thing, especially in an "Ice Vault" no less!

Attachment: 8/10 Oddly enough, despite having way too much navigation, this game is short and sweet and straightforward enough to be one I would return to if/when I return to text adventures. This and Golden Baton certainly stand out among this series (the Mysterious Adventures series).
