RoadTo360 29, Pure Futbol: The NBA Jam of Soccer Games
This review is for the Xbox 360 version

I am on a journey to beat 360 random Xbox 360 games. Here's my next adventure

Game number 29 was Pure Futbol. This is an arcade style soccer (futbol) game. You play 5 on 5 matches of soccer and the game does not take itself seriously at all. If you are looking for a realistic soccer simulator then this is not what you want… but realistic soccer simulators are probably what everyone has already and this breathes fresh air into the genre of soccer video games.

Everything in Pure Futbol is intended for fast-paced, high scoring matches. There are all the normal controls from something like FIFA, but characters can also pull off special moves and there are many quick time events in this game. Now I hear you all the way from here, “quick time events suck.” I would agree with that statement normally… but I found them to be a really positive addition to the game here.

I guess the downside of all of this is that your success is completely dependent on how well you can do in these quick time events. If you time things poorly then you will not score goals and if you time …

I guess the downside of all of this is that your success is completely dependent on how well you can do in these quick time events. If you time things poorly then you will not score goals and if you time them well then you are almost unfairly certain to score. That kinda sucks if you want a really serious match, but it’s just right for casual play.

I had a couple of friends over and we just hung out, drank some beers, and played this game. Maybe I am biased because hanging out with friends makes anything better, but it was a blast!

In conclusion, it is not time to go out and throw away all your FIFA games… but picking up a copy of Pure Futbol will almost certainly be a boon to your collection. The single player is okay, but I would definitely suggest to bring this game out at your next couch coop session with friends! (7/10)

I spent 2 hours, 19 min, and 3 sec playing Pure Futbol.

I have spent a total of 305 hours and 22 min on the Road to 360 challenge so far.

Next game (my choice): Fable Anniversary
