My head hurts

Tulpa is a platformer with an amazing atmosphere kind of like Limbo and a switch between 2 characters aspect like Last Inua.

Unfortunately, other than the puzzles it's bad:

  • The ringing sound that constantly plays still hurts my head while i'm writing this. The game has no volume sliders or even different sound options, you can only turn all sound on and off.

  • Puzzles are non-logical, for instance you have to bring a yellow ball to a ribcage to make an elevator work without any indication of any of this.

  • Ophelia will go mad within seconds if something bad happens or Oliver strays slightly.

  • When controlling one character the other often follows poorly, sometimes too slow, sometimes not at all.

  • The controls are wonky. Sometimes Oliver won't grab something, sometimes Ophelia doesn't jump.

  • The tutorial is poorly designed. I died right at the start because there's a little shake just before your first jump and i missed because of it. I also got stuck because the tutorial text introducing Oliver didn't show.

  • You will die a lot, often for dumb reasons. Respawning is quite slow and you're often placed too far back.

  • There's no indication of when the game saves …

  • There's no indication of when the game saves and you can't access the options menu during the game.

  • Did i say options menu? i meant the sound on/off menu. Although you can also choose in which language the game gives you a headache.

TL;DR: Literally and figuratively gives you a headache.

This game is a master class on how stylization can get in the way of gameplay.

Look at this black solid wall our characters are facing. enter image description here

No, it's not a solid wall, it's meant to be on the foreground and you can just walk through it.

But hey, the floor looks solid enough. There's not actual indication of any whole... enter image description here You'll be wrong. Those white things are supposed to be opened trap doors. If you walk straight, you fall to your death.

I'm sure there's nothing dangerous here. enter image description here No, those pointy black things like look like tall grass are actually sharp and kill you. No matter that in other places pointy killing thingies are coloured white.
