StarFringe is an abandoned nodal-based RTS. It only has three skirmish maps. Gameplay consists of putting buildings on a grid, keeping your mothership nearby until you can finally research then build a power plant, then jumping to the next node to repeat this tedious process.

Everything is incredibly clunky. Moving ships requires pressing Space and clicking a point on the invisible grid. You manually have to move metal from refineries to your mothership to build. Research can only be done if a ship carrying chips is nearby. Scout ships can't jump themselves, so you have to jump back to where they are with your mothership, open a gate and then have them jump.

Everything takes forever, and it's all busywork. I guess there's combat at some point but it probably takes hours of grinding before you even reach the enemy. Where's the actual fun?
