I started playing this for a money reward on a survey site, and then once I got it I just sort of... kept playing.
It's addictive in its own odd sort of way, so if you're prone to gambling or FOMO I definitely wouldn't recommend it, but I'm enjoying it. I'm on World 120-something, and the whole thing has a sort of cute little charm to it with all the map designs (I am disappointed they start to repeat after a while, but I guess you can't have thousands of unique boards) and the six different landmark stages all having their own details to look at - one landmark could be a skyscraper, for example, and every stage of building it will show it getting a little taller, more detailed, more luxurious-looking, maybe start showing some people walking around inside, etc. It's just a fun little addition to take notice of.
There's always some kind of tournament or event going on, which are pretty varied and engaging. The downside is that once you hit a certain level it becomes impossible to win without paying - you'll give it your absolute best effort and you'll still be in last place while everyone else is tens of thousands of points ahead of you. It's kind of killed my motivation to participate in them because I know there's no point in trying.
The sticker trading is a fun little side-activity. I hate that you only get 5 trades a day, but being part of the Discord groups and using the Wiki app to trade stickers back and forth with people is actually super satisfying and makes me feel like part of a community.
There's enough going on all the time to keep me checking back in on it every couple hours, even if it's just to use up my dice before dipping again.
I haven't noticed any ads for other things in-game at all, but the pop-ups encouraging you to pay for microtransactions are a little egregious. Whenever you run out of dice, you have to click out of 4 or 5 pop-ups one after the other advertising different kinds of 'deals'.
