So I pulled up to work today (my full-time job is teaching) and I spotted a coworker who make some uncomfortable also getting out of her car. Uncomfortable, like, she asked me to have her son I've never met drive with me so he can learn, and like, I had as a teacher in 5th grade and she crossed weird boundaries when we were kids too. Anyway, it felt like metal gear solid or Abe's odyssey line of sight stealth game as I ducked and dodged her. I unironically his behind 2 different corner walls waiting for her to take her next turn. She looked back twice lol, so line of sight a la 005. And of course my shoes were squeaky as heck from the snow melting, so that was an extra layer of stealth game potential :-P (don't worry I made it to my classroom safely, with only a possible peek from her in her line of sight without full game over)

A Very Unique Arcade Game. The First True Stealth Game

Look: 8/10 Well, just to begin with, right off the bat, what an absurd look. enter image description here

Play: 7/10 Read this as "Double-Oh Five," and the title suddenly becomes much clearer. At first this seemed like just some odd game I would come across and skip on my backlog. But instead... Wow.. Some other games I've come upon so far claimed to be the first Stealth games. But this by far takes the cake. It is a Stealth game. To me, the line of sight concept really solidifies it as Stealth as opposed to Action Maze, which always included an element of hiding in nooks & crannies till safe to cross. This adds that truly Stealth element. Dank innovation tbh. Oh! I just realized I didn't screenshot an image of the Line of Sight concept enter image description here

Feel: 9/10 So many nostalgia moments. Vibes from Chip's Challenge to straight-up Metal Gear Solid and other legitimate stealth games. And I know I already mentioned it, but the line of sight concept. I can surely say I haven't seen that yet in any of the other pre-Stealth games. Excited for the first Metal Gear on MSX in a few years. Glad I can confidently say "a few years" for the "True Console Era" (true, to me). Yay! It almost felt like a Level Select screen, tho I know it wasn't intended as that, but that's just how the "open world" part felt. I like that when you get caught in a warehouse, you absurdly start back right where you were :-p This has to be the first action game so far in the project I truly pushed through. Hell, perhaps, the first game in the project I've done so. And how fitting, as I approach the end of '81 and so far, have learned to love action games and be meh toward long-winded games... I mean, mind you, some very frustrating parts like the suddenly, seemingly bonus stage parts where you contrl the hellicopter, then you realize after a Game Over that those stages are meaningful ha. But this has... a lot I love. And this felt really special. I truly believe this could be called action-adventure, plus the stealth innovations... wow. Truly foundational to so many later games, from GTA to Metal Gear to every FPS I liked to play. Also, dank that you're gradually creating more green space in this city lols

Attachment: 8/10 Definitely a game I will remember, return to, and think of as I get into modern Stealth games and the true console era!
