Such Potential Wasted! Could Have Been A Cute, Quirky, Nighttime, Urban Cat Platformer

Look: 7/10 Lol, I ask myself again, why do I keep playing entirely or almost-entirely through these very basic platformers? Look: 7/10 Lol, I ask myself again, why do I keep playing entirely or almost-entirely through these very basic platformers? This one at least had something striking: you play as a cat atop buildings with an urban, grungy setting--and seemingly (tho I had a feeling the screens will then re-cycle) a set ending--reach your love, a fellow cat. Playing as a cat already boosts my rating of the game ha. Oh and cities at night--always a great touch to the Look, albeit done in a mediocre way.

Sound: 6/10 Cute and fitting, even if a little annoying. Lots of mewwwws

Play: 6/10 Quite tacky jump mechanic, but it was pretty easy to get it down--especially with the straightforward gameplay: always move forward as you can. No maze or up-and-down or back-and-forth aspect to it. As always with platformers, I wish there were a way to fight back. This is more in the lineage of the Quasimodo/Hunchback game and other flick-screen platformers, rather than my usual preference of Manic Miner and Mario.

Feel: 7/10 Of course, a cute touch to have you start with 9 lives (plus, I'm grateful for that ha... I'm still not very good at games despite all this gaming the last 2 years). If only the jump mechanic was better--not so short and more manipulatable. This has the basics to make for a quirky, beloved game of mine, but it's just not fun enough to play due to the clunky controls, poor jump mechanic, and awful collision masks. Plus, the screen designs already started repeating before I even got to the love interest the first time, albeit with some extra obstacles... Already re-cycling smh

Attachment: 6/10 And indeed, with the re-cycling screen designs and poor mechanics, once I got to the 2nd version of this screen--and still no love interest found :( --I had no motivation to continue on. enter image description here

So much potential! But as it is, very passable. Maybe worth a playtest or video watch, if you love kitty cat games.

Super cute, but I couldn't quite get the controls down right. Great ideas for the platform and action minigame type things, great colors and graphics, and good sound. But can't fully engage with it with these awkward diagonal movement issues. And the odd pseudo-responsiveness. (I should try the PC version some time.)
