Wants to be Portal, it can't but that's not a problem

The Bradwell Conspiracy is a 1st-person puzzle game. From the first hour it is quite clear and obvious that this game wants to be like Portal (1 & 2). That's not bad. Portal was a monumental game, a generational game, a game that was almost perfect in most aspects and has aged spectacularly well. The Portal games are still unsurpassed to this day. Having such a lofty aim and high target is not bad, but unfortunately The Bradwell Conspiracy falls short. The idea of the portable printing "gun" is neat but its execution is a bit clunky. The puzzles are interesting but hardly challenging or fresh or innovative. After a while they become repetitive. The characters are funny but only superficially so. In no way can they reach the levels of writing of GLaDOS or Wheatley. The atmosphere and locations are diverse and interesting but they are not expansive or believable. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game but it's nowhere as good as what it wants to be. I liked it but it can't get more than 3.5 stars. Worth playing if you can get it cheap or free.
