More of a guessing game than a logic puzzle

-- Part of my Itch.io Bundle Project - Attempting to play and rate every game in the 2020 Bundle for Racial Justice --

  • Rating: 3.0 / 10

  • Verdict: Probably skip this one

As an avid puzzle gamer I thought this would be something I'd really like, but for me this breaks the cardinal rule of puzzle games: it appears to be non-deterministic and requires you to guess and backtrack.

The basics of this game are that you have a grid of letters, and you need to draw lines through adjacent ones to spell words. Any letter used in the word will then disappear, and your goal is to clear the board. On its own I could see this being fine, since you'd be able to process-of-elimination your way through it, but my problem comes with the addition of the "randomize" button, where the remaining tiles get randomly assigned new letters. With this being totally random, there's no way to plan for it in your strategy ahead of time, which takes away any possibility of this being a true logic puzzle.
