Alex Hill is a kind of Nancy Drew meets Deadly Premonition detective point and click game. You play as Alex, an investigator checking out a small inn in the foothills of upstate New York where a girl recently died. You basically go around asking people questions and occasionally solving puzzles.
I really loved the atmosphere, music, art style. It is extremely cozy and has an almost Twin Peaks / Deadly Premonition feel to it. But the gameplay is way too mundane and frustrating to keep me playing. 90% of the time, the way to progress is by running from person to person slowly unlocking new dialogue tree options based on one line another person gave to you. So, it's just very trial-and-error and ultimately, the writing is just not that interesting so it gets pretty mundane.

The cursor barely changes when hovering over a point of interest, so it doesn't help much to rapidly move your mouse around on the screen. So between the puzzles and dialogue options, I was almost always stuck for a pixel-hunting reason rather than an engaging challenge.
The game could have been great, but ultimately the gameplay made me rapidly lose interest. If ways to proceed were clearer and more engaging, then the atmosphere of the game definitely would have kept me hooked.
About a 2.6/10 for me.
