Standard side-scrolling fighter based off of the Stallone film of the same name. Sly must fight thugs and the elements as he tracks down suitcases of stolen cash dropped around the peaks of the Rockies. Combat follows the Final Fight standard, broken up by some mountain climbing and running (or 3-D snowboarding on the Sega CD) from avalanches. Enemies are the standard brawler crooks, occasionally carrying guns and knives the player can pick up. The game tends to follow a pattern of having you deal with a natural hazard (scaling a cliff, leaping over gaps), then locking the screen down for a fighting segment, nature again, fighting again, etc. The available fighting moves is limited, compared to other games of this type, and the ability to hit an enemy character is noticeably less accurate. The plot is identical to the film, with levels based off of, or inspired by, scenes in the movie. Animated cutscenes move the story along on the cartridge systems, while brief clips from the film play between levels on the Sega CD. Read less

Cliffhanger is a 1993 platform and progressive fighting game.Malibu Interactive, the producer of the game, and 989 Studios, the distributor, have done a great job.The story of the game is as follows.A plane full of terrorists trying to steal money from a treasure plane was shot down from the air by an FBI drone. The terrorists survive and send a distress signal, to which the main character Gabe responds. However, Gabe does not know that the mayday signal came from a group of terrorists, and after reaching them, the terrorists seize Gabe's partner Hal and hold him hostage. Gabe must then depart and get the money to save Hal.The gameplay is as follows.in this game, which consists of 7 parts and 16 parts, you are trying to kill the enemies and pass the part. The music of the game is beautiful. If you are not too obsessed with graphics and you like retro games, this game is for you.My rating for the game: 10/10 (y) Good games to everyone 🙂

Beat. The beat em up parts were decent. I liked how you could get a limited ammo gun and a semi permanent knife, but it was annoying how long enemies took to kill with those. And I hated their invincibility frames. Nice to see a block function for a change but I did not find it useful since you can't block the most dangerous attacks. I pretty much spammed knife or punch from slightly off center of the enemy, then ran away until Iframes wore off. The platforming sucked. The climbing sucked. And the runner sequences almost made me give up playing; I had to lower it to 20 frames per second and it still took a dozen plus tries. I don't see how one could be expected to beat this game without infinite continues or save state scumming. Most of the bosses were not too bad; I had trouble with the uzi guy and chopper, because how can you be expected to fight those with bare fists? More guns and bullets and less everything other than shooting at guys would have made this a better game. Or at least just be a beat em up.

4.5/10
