Look: 8/10 I love the intro graphic, I like the layout of the screen (what is that called again? I forget it everytime. the UID or something), and the way everything looked (the hallways, the sprites, etc.)--but overall, wasn't particularly striking except for that beginning image! Great and of course ahead-of-its-time, but not my draw to the game.
Play: 9/10 Definitely noticed the shared terminology from pedit5 like Magic Missile, etc. Lets be honest, the maps are borderline too huge... considering how big each one is and how many there are... I just can't even fathom. There's a reason you can't find definitively complete maps of all the dungeons online: that commitment.... When I first started playing (I was stuck on this game for a good while), I said, "and wish amount of gold received correlated more with the difficulty of the enemy.. oh allegedly it is correlated with dungeon level and difficulty." Anyway, based on this experience, I prefer true purely turn based games when it comes to the early games. In some ways, I liked the pressure of the real-time vibe (e.g., with food and water, as well as Vitality rising allowing for some afk aspects again reminiscent …

Anyway, based on this experience, I prefer true purely turn based games when it comes to the early games. In some ways, I liked the pressure of the real-time vibe (e.g., with food and water, as well as Vitality rising allowing for some afk aspects again reminiscent of Runescape), but I died essentially because of that factor (hey, don't forget about Run feature like I did!). With all that being said, this was way ahead of its time, such a developed MMORPG it's ridiculous. As someone who has played a lot of Runescape in their life, the "guilds" stood out to me. Definitely abuse the camp function, I didn't even use the string/follow function. I most enjoyed my time just filling in maps, trying to hit every square since monsters seem to spawn on any square and letting my vitality raise back up when needed. So yeah, in this game you have vitality instead of HP or MP, and it rises back up slowly if you just chill. Unless you move, nothing will attack you. You can always reload the screen as needed with SHIFT+DATA I think it was. There are also some sneaky tricks to the game, but while preparing for them with a second account, it became obsolete because I had reached the 20 Wizardry I had planned to use the second character for (replenishing my Food and Water so I can just Cast Light, Protection, etc. to raise my Wizardry to Guild level; hot tip--you get a teleport back to the city if you join the Wizardry Guild at 20 Wizardry, most online guides recommend joining that guild and going for that earlier--you get to teleport back to the camp you last made after you're done and to other players, it really is helpful). Despite having a fantastic character, I died (twice, actually). Not that it's a hard game, perhaps grind-y but not difficult per se, but I just was at work using a hotspot and time waits for no one in this game--so I was getting beaten down ha and couldn't Trick my way out... I should have Ran, woopsie. Anyway, with the death of that 2nd player, I'm [almost] glad for it because I really need to and want to move on in my chronology. This game may epitomize a lot of my favorite MMORPG cravings, especially the grind, I was honestly so stoked for that 2nd character to raise Cunning then Valor yada yada I had several goals to qualify myself as "done" (though none even came CLOSE to trying for the Ring; that'd be a lifelong project for me ha)--BUT, I had to concede to its difficulty and length, at least while doing this chronology project. I DEFINITELY will be returning to it to attempt to go for the personal goals I met--I don't know if ever the Ring goal ha.
Oh hot tip: 0moria is the command heh, not just moria.
Feel: 10/10 I can't deny, this has everything I love. Yeah, sure, I gave up on it, but by many means I had met one of my early "endgame" goal: I first thought just joining a Guild would be worthy enough end goal, but I got that pretty quick on both accounts -- Valor on the first one and Wizardry on the second, after reading up about the game more from CRPG Addict CRPG Adventures, and Andrew Keller. I loveloveloved the passwall concept and execution. And in many ways, they brilliantly executed just 6x6 squares. It was fun trying to explore every single square because I'm like that ha. I don't even know how many squares in total this game would have, but it's astronomical. I truly believe I will be returning to this game over and over trying different ways of playing, etc. The utter vastness of it and extreme epicness of the "official" “final goal” of getting the ring are commendable, sure, but so lofty and lengthy that I chose to move on in the chronology. I feel like dnd's end goal, albeit difficult like pedit5, has a more reasonable straightforward goal/ending for me to reach for during this chronology project, and I'm starting that ASAP tonight after dinner! I definitely will return to this some day and try to set a certain goal, like all stats to 30 or a certain amount of money, etc.
Attachment: 9/10 Yep, definitely will be replaying this no question. Though I doubt I will ever reach for the Ring, the fact that I could even entertain such a lofty goal--akin to the goals I set and met for Runescape--indicates this game may be a 10 someday. We will see based on future attempts at getting further in the game! I bet it would get repetitive going for fricking lvl 60 of the dungeon...
I'm not gonna give an actual review of this right now, it wouldn't be fair. I think I'm getting burnt out on the PLATO dungeon crawlers, plus this one is a rather annoying combination of tedious and open-ended. One day I'll return, probably.
