Wanting to take inXile to new heights, Moore said in the interview that the studio hired developers with experience working on games like the original Fallout entries, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and more. “inXile knows its RPGs, and [principal designer Jason Anderson] and I had the steampunk angle covered, but to make a game like this, we needed specializations the studio really hadn’t had before,” Moore said. That’s why it hired talent from Rockstar to work on cinematics and dialogue, and others from Bungie and Blizzard to handle combat and enemy encounters.
I’m excited about this team’s commitment to building on its previous releases to assemble a larger team, one ready to take on the ambitions of Clockwork Revolution. Even the way the team talks about its character creation suite has me thinking this might be an exciting triple-A RPG, an oversaturated genre to be sure. Moore said in the Xbox Wire interview that inXile president Chris Keenan said Clockwork Revolution’s character creation machine is the single most expensive asset the studio has ever made, which Fargo colors by explaining the lens through which we view this world isn’t just a UI screen, but a “fully in-world machine for reporting crime, and the suspect is you.” In other words, everyone in Clockworld Revolution, from its various colorful and shiny automatons to its human gang members and more, is watching you.
