Easily best game by Elephant
It has been an absolute slog playing through Elephant Games' backlog. They are quite prolific, and 95% of their games are absolute garbage. The early stuff is overfilled with list-based hidden object minigames (and UGLY), while the later stuff is generic trash that is completely linear and boring.

But their best games were made in the middle period, between 2012-2015. And the best was in 2013 - this being the absolute star of the bunch. Extremely fun, with nonlinear gameplay (tons of backtracking, which for me is a huge plus), really fun puzzles, dark moody atmosphere, the artwork is very natural and painterly and high effort... it just checks all the boxes for me in this genre.
That said, not a perfect game. The hidden object games are generic list-based ones. Pretty whatever story, though it does the job. I wouldn't put this in my top ten of the genre or anything. But I had a blast regardless, and if I was to recommend any game by Elephant Games - this is it.
