Princess Peach: Showtime! (2024)

This game is sending me into a full-blown existential crisis. In 2023 I had the goal to complete 90% of every game I get, because previously I was dropping more games than I was completing. Last year I didn't have much of a problem, I had a few instances where I had to really push myself to stick with a game... But for the most part I didn't have much of a problem with even the worst games I played that year, and I didn't feel bad about the few games I did end up dropping.

From what I can tell I'm 50% through Princess Peach Showtime! and I just really really don't want to play anymore. In fact, it makes me wonder if it's even worth it to force myself to finish games like this. Is my life really going to be enriched somehow if I beat Princess Peach stinkin' Showtime? Will I be a failure for letting this certified kiddy™ game defeat me? I'm entering uncharted territory here!! Dropping a full-priced game so quickly gives me such heartburn. I'll probably gift this to my sister who was interested in playing it, to make it feel like less of a total waste.

I hadn't seen any gameplay for this game before, so I didn't really know anything about it other than Cute game where Peach changes outfits. But honestly? It doesn't look half bad. The gameplay looks very simplistic and it's clearly aimed towards a young audience, but I think the game has potential. It looks like -if done correctly- the level design, the outfits having different movesets and the minigames could make the game either really really fun or really really boring. I don't know if i'd say I'm excited, but i'm at least curious.
