Texas Instruments Keeps Surprising Me--A Solid Albeit Goofy Game
This review is for the Texas Instruments TI-99 version

Look: 6/10 I didn't really get a chance to screenshot much, but this video does a good job at, well, encompassing all this game has to offer in terms of appearance and sound heh:

The word would be functional for sure.

Sound: 8/10 I oddly got captivated by it? As tacky as it mostly is, I've had a soft spot for these early Texas Instruments games' music. Tbh, it got quite repetitive after a while, but I'm still overrating this a bit cuz I've been surprised by the TI games so far and also because I wanna remember all these early games that had actual darn music ha. I know I always say it, but Phoenix was, in terms of the order in my project as inaccurate as it likely is heh, the first to have truly striking background music. This game, Blasto, I'm just excited it even has the concept of background music heh. So, I'm probly overrating this, just out of love of the background music concept :-p

Play: 8/10 I like this puzzle game feel a la the upcoming Tetris and Qix, but with a nice playful and yay violent twist heh. :-p

Feel: 7/10 Despite being surprisingly fun, I can't claim this was some brilliant concept or addicting puzzle game. Even as much as I respect Qix, and used to play it a ton as a youngun, I am not sure if puzzle games will ever fully click again with me. Maybe the influx of mobile puzzle games, and for-pay sillinesses, sullied the concept for me. I'm excited to get to Qix and Tetris soon, so I can see if the better-known start of puzzle games gets me back interested in them. I have an odd feeling the early 3d and N64/PS1/etc era goofy puzzle and juvenile games will be what get me back into it :-p Gah, now I'm thinking of some of the goofy Rugrats PC and console games as I had as a youngun--I can't wait to get to the late 80s and 90s! Anyway, I should give this game another try with a 2nd player someday... whenever I'm in the mood to return to very early vehicular combat and puzzle games heh..

Attachment: 6/10 These early puzzle games just haven't seemed to be my thing, but if you are interested in puzzle arcade games, this certainly should be one you consider or watch a video of.
