Cute-Looking, But Otherwise Skippable Action-Adventure
This review is for the Commodore C64/128/MAX version

Look: 7/10 Probly the best part of the game. The little snake enemy thing is great, I love how it moves ha, and pretty impressive Cuthbert sprite/setting. But still, nothing special. I didn't screenshot because of the emulator I had to use, but you can see it here

Edit: Oh lol, I was wondering why I kept associating the snake-looking-thingy enemy with a saxophone: the cover has a saxophone heh. It must be what it's supposed to be... odd

Sound: 6/10 Functional and kinda cute/catchy.

Play: 5/10 While I like the classic, early action-adventure feel (collect keys in a maze/dungeon-esque series of screens, with a set ending--something I always like), there were some clear disappointments as I began the game: you can only shoot horizontally (and I know they could have included vertical and diagonal aim, too), it's got over 200 screens before the end (most things online said there is no end, but there is), and it's a lot of repetitive gameplay even as you get further. Still, I wanted to give it an earnest try since early action-adventures have been a favorite genre so far in the chronology project, especially with numbered screens and a set ending that …

Still, I wanted to give it an earnest try since early action-adventures have been a favorite genre so far in the chronology project, especially with numbered screens and a set ending that reminded me of Manic Miner/etc. Welp, now after playing it, I'm quite disappointed. It was more fun watching the longplay. The controls are just awful: while it's essentially an action-adventure, it has that awful feature of maze games where pressing down against a wall--even if right at the corner--moves you horizontally. And as mentioned before, the shooting-horizontally-only is an awful restraint. Finally, already by Screen 6, it wasn't the type of interesting/puzzle-solving backtracking that can be fun in adventure games: just the blandest you-have-one-key, use it, go back for the other key of whatever color, use it, move on. The time limit feature added a nice factor, but meh. Very passable.

Feel: 6/10 Some of the screen titles were great, but some were lazy as heck heh. But I suppose, with over 200.... you run out of ideas at a point. Once I actually played though, this was simply disappointing. Pass on this one.

Attachment: 5/10 Don't waste your time like I did heh.

Completion: Through Screen 6 Playtime: ~20 mins
