Sled Storm is a hidden gem for sure. I don't remember exactly how I got it back in 2000 but I think it was a birthday gift from a relative, and I was sceptical at first opening it up. I read every single video game magazine that was out, and if I hadn't heard of a game at that time; it probably wasn't that good. No offence, uncle Bengan. Boy was I wrong however, and boy was I happy about that, as it shattered all my preconceived notions.

First of all, the soundtrack is hecking awesome. It's everything from Rob Zombie to hectic electronic music, and just the idea of a snow mobile racing game is brilliant. I am a huge sucker for snow levels and icy environments in general, so the theme really spoke to me, and the level design is believe it or not really varied and entertaining taking you through heavily snowed out woods, ice caves and across frozen lakes and narrow mountain passes.

The snow mobiles feel heavy and handles really well and it is satisfying to squeeze past your opponents and dodge trees and pitfalls and other obstacles as you go. There's a bunch of …

The snow mobiles feel heavy and handles really well and it is satisfying to squeeze past your opponents and dodge trees and pitfalls and other obstacles as you go. There's a bunch of different characters with some minor stat differences and you can do tricks in mid air that adds to your overall score. It's all about the racing though, for me! I review this game off of my memories with it over twenty years ago. Jesus. Not sure if it holds up today but I had some great times with Sled Storm. I think you will too.
