While Wario enjoys the riches from his many adventures, a mysterious black jewel in his trove transforms gems into monsters. Now, Wario must scramble to recover his riches in an alternate world filled with quirky puzzles, swarming enemies, and lots of loot. As Wario, you'll punch, kick, jump, grab monsters and objects, and inhale surrounding coins like a vacuum cleaner. You must cling to 3D balls to fight bosses, find hidden areas through trap doors, and bash your surroundings to uncover secrets.

Wario World ain't Warui
This review is for the Nintendo GameCube version

It's interesting circling back around to Wario World 20 years later. A game that I at the time didn't think much of, especially graphically, seems almost nostalgic in its simplicity now. Wario's always existed in this bizarro universe adjacent from the Mushroom Kingdom, and the comparison with Mario Sunshine isn't a pretty one for World. Yes, the graphics still look ugly. But in a way that aligns with what Wario games have always stood for. It's a garish platformer that's more focused on exploration and collecting, and as a longtime Wario fan I'm just happy to re-discover a forgotten game in a series where the entries have become increasingly few and far between. Even the fact that it's short has become a selling point for me, admittedly a person who didn't shell out retail price for it in 2003.

Quality of levels varies a bit between worlds and the final battle is a bit meh (in non-Japanese versions) but it's still fun enough to play!

As fun as this game is most of the time... the platforming sections are not enjoyable. Those controls aren't really made for precise jumping.

I'm having a lot of fun so far. It is simple, but fast-paced and colorful. I love that he eats full heads of garlic to replenish his health, and that pause music is pretty great.

I finished off Wario World. I definitely don't think this game is worth the rarity hype it receives. I mean, there are definitely some good aspects, but there are many frustrating parts. I'm glad I played it, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone else at this point in its life.

I've gotten farther in Wario World over the past several days, having finished off the second area. I do enjoy the game when I'm not wrestling with my Wii trying to get it to start up at all. It's very weird hearing all of the identical sound bites from WarioWare.

I finally found a used complete version of Wario World! (Payed $30 for it via Amazon Warehouse Deals). After wrestling with my Wii a bit to get it to start up (Did you know that Wii power supplies can require 'resetting'?), I played through the first level. The camera system is quite intriguing in this game and I'm excited to play more. Not sure I will play it super thoroughly and search for every collectable or not...
