Disappointing Early Graphic Text Adventure Based on a Natural Disaster
This review is for the Apple II version

Look: 8/10 After some struggle, and almost settling with the Atari 8-bit version, I got the Apple II version to work (I finally figured out my Apple IIe Emulator, instead of using Archive's :) Rock n roll.) And sure enough it was worth it to play this version over the others: I love the quilty pattern-y vibes of the graphics right of the bat. Good execution of the graphics after the earthquake itself. And yesss, the Get Ladder and Get Small Dog screens so good

Play: 5/10 Kinda silly how the game switches from graphic to text screens on the Apple II, instead of just having compartmentalized UI like in other early Apple II graphic text adventures. The Apple II is very smooth with its gameplay, and surprisingly fast-paced for drawing those graphics and switching between graphics and text entry screens. Waiting for the 2 earthquakes is kinda tackily executed. I usually like backtracking but I have to admit this got a little too much of that. And the Look Quarts, Look Indentation, Look Flat Spot, etc. part is tacky as heck. I wound up choosing not to finish this, it was just too meh after a while (tho the …

Feel: 6/10 Infamous for its poorly-executed writing, which renders the game “difficult,” this game was definitely.. Interesting. Interesting to see the natural disaster obsession, like with many physical text adventures at the library I work at: Choose Your Own Adventures, etc. Obviously a great, thrilling, interesting concept. The settings, graphics, and drive to continue got blah after a while, though. Oh but we just killing soldiers lol alright. At least you save the dog! And the graphic for the dog is great lol. Gotta love precipices. And the ethics espoused by this game are quite questionable.. I gave a little boost for the exciting initial concept, the graphics, the Small Dog and Ladder screens, and the fact the soldier/cops are presented more or less as bad guys heh :-X

Attachment: 5/10 I doubt I will be replaying this, which is disappointing cuz I went into it excited to start natural disaster choose your own adventure type graphic text games.
