Power-ups can also be picked up that range from weapon upgrades to crystals that can produce a temporary shield to protect the player from enemy fire. Less

Beat on Hard. This game was very difficult and took a lot of save state scumming. Probably should have played at 30 frames per second. This was because many of the bosses and enemies had cheap attacks that were difficult to avoid, and the very annoying infinite respawns. I especially disliked the parts where my movement was restricted due to being on a vehicle. The worst part was the beginning of the final level, where there were infinite suicide drones that would kill the guy in a single hit if touched, even at full hp. At the beginning I got tri shot and homing. The tri shot was great but I eventually ran out of ammo and replaced it with the charge shot (which sucked) and then rockets. That homing lasted the full game and was by far the best. I did not really try the lasers and machine gun. By the time I beat the final boss I had over 3000 ammo for homing, and 1000 rockets, from those crystals. I felt that shooting crystals for health and ammo was a dumb mechanic because of how long it took, and how that broke the pace of the game. The …

I felt that shooting crystals for health and ammo was a dumb mechanic because of how long it took, and how that broke the pace of the game. The rest of the game mechanics were solid, with L and R locking you in place for diagonal shooting. Other than the cheap difficulty, the main flaw was the presentation and player hook. There was no story at all, no reason to progress the fight, not even stage names. It made the game feel soulless. I found it hilarious how much the protagonist looks like Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z, at least the game sprite if not box art.
