Lair

Having finally played (and, also, finished) Lair, I’ve found it to be a pretty underrated game. Aside of poor motion controls everybody seems to be bitching about there's nothing really wrong with this game. And by 'nothing really wrong' I mean an amazing orchestral original soundtrack, nice visuals, an adequate story and, in my opinion, seriously absorbing gameplay leading to some really intense epic battles towards the second half of the game.

I do realize controls are one of the crucial components in experiencing a video game and if they’re bad, playing the game may turn into a self-torture. Still, I think, that’s not such a game breaking factor for Lair as reviews are pointing it out. Controls did seem completely broken to me in the beginning, but after about half an hour into the game I got well used to an imperfect Sixaxis’ response. And after that the game has become truly enjoyable to me. I assume professional reviewers didn’t give Lair much of a chance after having concentrated on the frustration everybody’s going to get having first played it.

The game is fairly short (about 6 hours long), but thanks to scoring/unlockables system has a potential for ‘replayability’, …

The game is fairly short (about 6 hours long), but thanks to scoring/unlockables system has a potential for ‘replayability’, which I’m not interested as of yet. Still, I’ve enjoyed Lair a lot for those 15 bucks spent for it on Amazon and definitely there were games I’ve paid more for and liked less. So, as the game is cheap now or maybe you can even rent it, I recommend giving Lair a try which in my opinion it deserves.
