Like Playing A Cartoon, Or A Toy Coming To Life. Plus Nostalgia, To Boot
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

Preliminary: I'm really skeptical that the version I own (and had available to me now) is the 1995 version, but it seems so based on all my sources. This is so beautiful for its time. Good wit with the Great Seal. I had the castle toy itself. Tons of reasons why this is special. The gameplay is even good to me, it's an adventure game rather than purely educational as one would expect.

Great sounds, love the water sounds in the one screen

I'm surprsied I'm not wanting to fast forward and rush through this, this moves fast enoguh (is very simple but still, it's for kids after all lol) has great screens, very nostalgic. This part was always the toughest to me enter image description here

Very excited to finally play the Pirate Ship one when that comes along on backlog. I had access to it briefly, or our version broke or something.

And yesss lol the voice of the Blacksmith, I vividly remember that.

Such great colors and hard to explain, but the rounded edges make it feel soft and cozy and perfectly mid 90s . Also the surreal way I know the toys all these things like the cannon and knights …

This was such an ingenious idea: basically bringing a popular toy to life. We already used our imagination to come up with great scenarios with this toy, but this made our ideas be validated and expanded.

Besides being ridiculously easy, this really stood up begtter than I expected. It was like watching a kids cartoon. Made me smile/chuckle and enjoy the ride. And beautiful colors and good sound effects to help the ride. And welp that was short and sweet, as it should be with this level of simplicity enter image description here

Look: 9/10 My kind of mid 90s Look. If there were something sentimental, or a sunset/sunrise at the end or something, this easily could've been higher.

Sound: 8.5/10 Kinda redundant in some ways since I never love the triumphant or medieval vibe in game music, but the sound effects were great.

Play: 8.5/10 Extremely dull in some ways, but a) nostalgia boosts this which made it more approachable/tolerable as an adult and b) it's perfect for the target audience. I thought the trading sequence was difficult so maybe we did have the 1995 version (I would've been 5/6).

Feel: 9/10

Attachment: 8.5/10 How often will I play games for kids? Not that often. But I will show this to my yougner brother, and I actually played it the whole way through including the higher number of Knights option, and enjoyed it--short and sweet. In fact, after writing this, I will give Attachment a .5 boost to recognize this.

Overall: 8.7/10

Completion: Main Story

Playtime: 33 mins
