Fragile Dreams takes place after an apocalyptic event that wiped out most of mankind. Young Seto finds a note from his deceased grandfather urging him to travel to the red tower that lights up the night sky. Along the way he finds a young, silver haired girl Ren who drives him to journey through the ruined world in search of companionship. Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is an action-adventure game with light RPG elements and a focus on exploring the often desolate surroundings. Players are tasked with navigating the empty environments while fighting ghosts and obtaining items such as sketches and short stories that reveal the last moments of the lives of those lost in the great catastrophe. Seto is guided through a third-person perspective and the flashlight is one of his most important aids. Controlled through the Wii Remote it illuminates dark surroundings to interact with the environment and is needed to solve many puzzles. It can also uncover hidden enemies and often a sound through the mini speaker provides a hint about their location. The Nunchuck is used to walk, sneak around, and crouch. It is possible to go into a first-person perspective to get a better view of the environment. Additional weapons that can be picked up during the course of the game are sticks, an iron pipe, a bow, a hammer, a bamboo sword, and a katana. Less

This review is for the Wii version

"THE GAME THAT INTRODUCED YAOI TO EUROPE!!! Beautiful graphics that stand the uhh.. something of time and a heart wreching story, gameplay could be improved upon, battles feel a little bit like annoying roadblocks when the most fun part of the game is just walking around and taking in the breath taking sceneries. Even better than in my memories! 9 out of 10!"

"Never heard of it before now, genuinely almost made me cry and sent shivers down my spine, the controls were hard to get control of namely due to it being emulated and me not being able to emulate the wii's infared sensor but it was still playable, the setting and set pieces are fantastic, the story while short and some plots left open was great, and the voice acting had enough cheese and emotion to ride the fine line of what I like in older titles, amazing game 10 out of 10"

Didn't hit the same way as 10 years ago...

I wanted to replay this to relive the fond memories and nostalgia of the past.

What this game still really gets right is the atmosphere. The art and the music are incredible. It was impressive for an early Wii game back in the day.

However, stuff doesn't really hold up. The gameplay is super boring, repetitive, and inconvenient. The story sure has its moments, but it has some tonal issues.

10 years later, I still cry though.

I played this game when I was around 12. And since then I have not been able to get it out of my mind.

Its about humanity. Its about loneliness. Its about connection. Such desire for connection with others leading to the end of humanity itself, and yet the game is so much about wanting to be with others and wanting to understand them.

Its a tragedy that its main character refuses to see as a tragedy, kind as he is.

Worth playing if you are able to look over its many flaws gameplay wise. I believe its something everyone should give a try. The feeling of walking through a world where nothing but the memories of others remain is pretty nice. The art is really good and i think it still stands years later.

If fragile dreams has no fans its because ive died

Honestly the gameplay is kinda garbage, with terrible controls and breakable weapons, but the design of a decaying world and the ever-present feeling of loneliness make up for it. Also the best intro song in any game ever.

deepdoop's review of Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

Fragile Dreams has one terrible element in it, and that's the fact that weapons break way too often. It's constant and it's annoying. Besides that, it has great visuals (for the Wii), atmosphere, an engaging and emotional story and a wonderful soundtrack. When people say the Wii didn't have games, that's not true; a lot of great ones just weren't marketed well (or at all, it seems). An overlooked gem.
