This is a very charming tactical game that is basically modern XCOM games, but with dice for values, a fantasy theme, and a cute visual style.
The power progression of your characters is very enjoyable, each having their own skill tree and each mission only giving you 3 skill points will leave you wanting way more than you can actually get, which is normally a good thing with those types of systems.
All of the characters are fun and unique in interesting ways, I have my favorites and least favorites but I like playing all of them and enjoy trying out different combinations of 3 for my party.
Probably my biggest criticism of this game is that it poises itself somewhat similar to a roguelike. The different equipment you get on each playthrough will lightly push you towards different playstyles but there really isn't enough to encourage run after run after run of the game once you've unlocked and experienced each of the characters other than simply going for all the achievements if that interests you. The enemy variety is pretty low (even after the recent Slime update) and things don't change enough to make each "run" feel different.

I think a solution to that would be to either focus on variety for runs OR flesh out an actual narrative, though the latter seems much harder for a game like this so I'd suggest the former.
Regardless though, as long as you know going in that this is a fun little 10 hour tactics game or a 30-40 hour (depending on skill level) achievement grind and not something like XCOM2 where you're going to want to play it over and over and over again just to see how things change or do challenge runs then I think you're in for a good time. The $20 price is on the higher end of fair imo but still fair and it is still worth it, If you can get it for $15 or cheaper on sale I say grab it immediately if you like these types of games.
Hoping for tons of new content updates over time so I can come back to this but even if it never gets anything more than it has now I still liked it and would hope for a sequel.
