This PC Engine Die Hard game starts out outside, making you wonder if the people who made it ever even saw the movie.

"If This Is Their Idea Of Christmas, I Gotta Be Here For New Year's."
This review is for the Nintendo Entertainment System version

Ho-ho-ho. This is a shitty game. Terrible top down third person shooter from Activision, based on the classic movie. You clear floors by shooting bad guys, that are insanely over powered compared to you by the way! They pepper you with bullets and their range is so much longer than yours. Most of the time you don't even see the shooter, just the onslaught of bullets coming towards you from all angles. Your feet has a separate health bar (ha, ha) and items and "cut scenes" (stills) are faithful to the movie and will interest any die hard Die Hard fan. It shows ambition but it needs work, it's just not fun to play or rewarding enough to deal with its frustrations.

Preliminary: Yessss enter image description here

Ok I was going to pass this off cuz the gameplay is pretty tacky and redundant so far but I just finished the first of 10 stages and I love this between-stage screen enter image description here

I keep wondering if I have a cheat on, but apparently I don't--they sure do give a lot of ammo! The second stage's maze-like vibe is a bit annoying, but it seems worth pushing through. Dunno why this made the cut but Journey to Sillius didn't lol I'm odd.

Day 1

Stage 2 wound up being quite quick too (well, I suppose the short timers should make that obvious to me) and I'm holding on to this Machine Gun, not picking up anything else :-p

Oh great... another maze-like level...

Welp I burned out on Stage 3. Just let me pick up and play if you're going to have a power-up-heavy run n gun game! Smh
