WeXaztor's review of Balthazar's Dream

I wish there was a 6 star rating so i could go 2.5 between "mostly didn't like it" and "liked it". Because this game is pretty much what you'd expect of this type of game at this price.

Overall it was kinda cute and the music is nice. As for the level of platforming i got what i expected. It was kinda clunky, but better than other some other games ive tried at this price-point.

But there is a level of wrestling with the mechanics, a certain fear mechanic requires a bit of getting used to.

In the end i would have been happy to say. "Please give it a try, knowing what to expect." It's a short, cheap game that could be worth trying out, supporting smaller games, maybe send some feedback their way.

But, getting to the less enjoyable bit. Chapter 8-10 are not fun in my opinion. Chapters 8 and 9 are just waaaaaaaaay too long and lacks any "proper" gameplay in my opinion. Chapter 10 could have been better with some smaller fixes, but as it is now, it's very drawn out because of repeated dialogue and such.

That being said. that's 3 levels out of 10+final boss and i actually enjoyed the bit coming after those 3 levels.

So i guess my closer for this is;

I'd like to recommend giving this game a try, but if you lack patience for anything but "perfect" gameplay, maybe it's not for you.

In the end, i did not regret trying it.
