Gears Pop Off!

Gears Pop is a mobile game that is also available on Windows PCs.  The game is F2P and pretty easy to get into.  There are three lanes on the screen.  You send you units by dragging them to one of these lanes to attack your adversary who has the exact same setup.  Autoturrets and placed next to your main character on each side.  The goal of the game is destroy these turrets and at least knockout your opponent.  There is also a Coop Horde mode(which I haven't played, not knowing anyone else who plays the game),  a practice mode, and the above described which is called Thrashball Arena.

The game is alright, it's literally plastered with free to play stuff like loot boxes, two currencies, and a time component involving how often you can open chests.  None of this, at least in the three hours I played effected my enjoyment of the game.  The super simple nature of the game, did however.  I really wasn't THAT excited for the game to begin with, but thinking it was an XCOM style game instead of a Kingdom Rush style game was a real letdown.  Apparently there IS another game coming out called …

All in all the game isn’t a bad little time waster and perhaps some of the team modes might be fun if you have friends playing.  But it certainly isn’t doing anything new and if you are happy playing Kingdom Rush you probably won’t leave it to play this.  I will probably only play a little more.  I tend to have a hard time with mobile games that REQUIRE an always online connection as I’m not usually home when I play mobile games.  If I was home, I certainly wouldn’t be wasting my time with a mobile title.  Anyway, that’s just me.
