Jones in the Fast Lane is a life simulation game developed and published by Sierra Entertainment in 1990. The objective of the game is to attain certain amounts of money, happiness, status, and education. The exact amounts needed are defined by the player(s) when the game begins. The game's name and goals are a play on the concept of keeping up with the Joneses. As of 2006, the game was unofficially ported to Adobe Flash.

Great Look and Sound, With The Best Execution of "Real Life Sim" So Far!

Preliminary: (I am playing the original 1991 floppy disc release.) As always with DOS games, I wont be able to take many screenshots. But trust that 91 DOS continues to impress with Look and vibe. The tune is great rn lol so cheesy and these people you can select are great. enter image description here

I absolutely love this, but I can only play a simulation game of this nature so long. I like that you can either compete with Jones or just play to play. (I did both). I like how fast-paced everything is, unlike so many other DOS games from its time. I like how complex yet simple at the same time it is. Not a huge fan of the Oregon Trail-esque food spoiling randomly, computer choosing what to do over the weekend, etc, would've preferred complete control over that stuff. But a really neat game. Debating between a 3 and a 4 star, 4 star to recognize how ahead of its time its Look and Sound are and the success of its concept's execution, or 3 just to acknowledge that I only played it for 20-30 mins. I'm thinking 4 because of the replayability in different ways and levels of challenge …

Look: 8.5/10 Wow

Sound: 8.5/10 What I said above

Play: 7.5/10 Simulation and strategy games will never be a favorite of mine, but "real life sim" games are definitely some of my favorite of those genres.

Feel: 8/10

Attachment: 8/10 Maybe play it with others some time! (Welp, turns out it got a 4 star on its own anyway haha)

Overall: 8.1/10
