Technically the first gaming convention I've ever assisted.
It has very basic gameplay (shooting+stealth+puzzles) but it is there nonetheless. Other than that is what I'd expect from a game trying to sell a product. You walk around an imaginary, E3-like place and watch trailers. It's not something ground-breaking but it got me thinking about the future.
Doing something like this is obviously a lot cheaper than the real thing, and you have the advantage of being able to put stuff in the exhibitions that would be impossible irl. But, of course, I don't think the public would be ready to swap the real thing for a virtual experience, tho it'd nice to have something like this for people in other countries.
Also I think I barely classify this as a "Game", and I have a pretty big range on what I'd consider "Games". Once someone told me that walking simulators should be renamed "Exploration games" and yeah that's exactly what this is, or maybe "Tour games" would be a more accurate term, like the Discovery Tours from Assassin's Creed.
I think that stuff like this will be its own thing in the future, with a proper term. I mean …

Anyways this thing is weird and it feels weird to have it in my shelves and steam library. Oh yeah, Shadow Warrior 3 looks dope I guess, even tho I didn't like the first one and didn't play the second one, Fall Guys looks fun and Carrion was probably my favorite out of the bunch
This was super cool. Of course at it's core it's a dev conference disguised as a game, but it was actually really well done and a lot of fun. They could've just made a hallway with a bunch of screens playing trailers, but they didn't. There's a small "stealth" section, a few puzzles, collectibles, and even a boss fight! I really want every developer to do this now for their conferences. Looking up trailers on youtube or watching from home on Twitch just won't be the same now.
For being a virtual video game convention advertising Devolver's new and upcoming games, Devolverland Expo pulls off it cleverly. By turning this promotion stunt into a functional FPS adventure game, it feels more engaging sneaking through the closed centre while learning about new releases to come out. It's short and has a very cliché premise, but it serves its purpose well to make video game release news more interesting.
Cute, fun little way to show off their stuff. Enjoyed the short time it lasted.
