I don't know who designed the advanced course in this game, but they deserve a special circle in hell. Not only are the levels much harder than in normal, you have to beat 50 in a row, so if you get a game over in level 45, you have to start from scratch. Even with 9 continues, the difficulty spike going from normal to advanced is insane. I decided to drop this game because it's driving me nuts. I would have given it one more star if they simply had kept the difficulty in check, since it's otherwise a fun and well made time killer, even if it gets repetitive.

This is my first real playthrough for a Super Monkey Ball game, but overall I found it a fun little arcadey diversion. All you do is roll the monkey (in a ball) across obstacle courses, being careful not to fall off the stage and into the bottomless abyss below. (Some say the fallen monkeys are still falling, to this day...) The game is very simple, but the general presentation is rather nice. There are a lot of extra minigames that are pretty fun. My favorite is the bowling one, in which you hold the Vita sideways (making the screen vertical), use the touchscreen to fling the ball forward, and then tilt the Vita left or right to guide the ball toward the pins. You can pass and play for multiplayer turns too, which is nice.
