Preliminary: Ugh even with the Look and Sound seemingly virtually unchanged in the 2 years since the first installment, it is just too endearing. This whole series. Argh. It has such a nice tone to the music and nostalgic Look.
Early Game
Ugh I guess I'll play it through lol. I'm never going to finish this backlog. As outdated as it is, it's like I said, endearing. The dungeon tune is the usual Ganbare Goemon dungeon tune. And as tackily dungeon-y it is, it has a nostalgic quality from my having played all the prior games. As with early JRPGs, the movement is ridiculously slow so this likely will be a 3 or 4 star, cuz without fast forward I surely wouldn't have pushed through.
Good humor and quite silly etc. And never been a big fan of quests just to earn some money, but I assume it'll grow from there. But in some ways the plotline and beginning are like the first Pokemon, just want to be the best and have a rival etc.
I wish it were clearer which equipment can be equipped by whom. At first I was just using maps and playing blind otherwise, but unfortunately …

I wish it were clearer which equipment can be equipped by whom. At first I was just using maps and playing blind otherwise, but unfortunately after wasting money on equipment a third time, Imma use a guide to at least know the basics of equipment etc. (Ah, this Racoon solves that problem. but still)
Ugh great status ailments beginning to intensify >.< My favorite. The camels to cross the desert was cute tho.
Meh I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I think it's primarily just that it's still basically the same NES game just in a new scenario. I will still give this a 3 star, in case I ever want to play through basically an extension of the first one, but for now I am going to move on in excitement for more advanced and fresh RPGs to come. Plus ones with more emotion. That being said, the music is great and the nostalgia for this series came out plenty!
Look: 7.5/10 I really liked the water in this but it's really just run of the mill NES
Sound: 8/10 I'm sure it gets repetitive but I stopped before it could haha
Play: 7.5/10 Good enough. Standard NES JRPG fare.
Feel: 8/10 Love the series
Attachment: 7/10 Despite my love for the series, I just couldn't commit to the hours needed for this game without a drive. If I do return to this this will get boosted but for now, moving on.
Overall: 7.6/10
Welp finally through all the 1992 games that don't [seem to] have known specific dates. Time for well-dated games, which bring me joy :-p First up, another entry in a series I love so much and has become more and more nostalgic for me. Mystical Ninja was great, the early Ganbare games were too, and the first RPG spinoff was pretty good. Hopefully they have something updated from the 1990 predecessor, since I expect a lot from 92 console RPGs. Either way, weeee, so many 92 games I am excited for that I had never played before like Shining Force and Alone In The Dark!
