Golf, especially mini-golf, should not be an experience that is hampered down by its difficulty. Sure, if you wanna make it more difficult as you continue on, that's fine, but to inherently make it a hard game is not fun at all.
I finished the first course of 18 holes. It started out as a fun time and I was enjoying myself. The switch to each new hole was unique and pleasing to watch. They segued into each other as brilliantly as those youtube videos where you watch the dominoes fall and it keeps escalating until a brick shoots a basketball into the hoop. It's oddly satisfying. But the holes kept getting more and more difficult, but I was able to finish the first course.
Then I tried doing this geometry course. This was a lot easier and had some unique ways to shoot shots. It was basically a hole in one simulator as each hole could be done in one shot if you were able to figure out where to hit it. It turned it into a psuedo puzzle game, and with collectibles to find along the way it was fairly enjoyable. Those have 100 holes each, which sounds …

Those have 100 holes each, which sounds bad, but it goes by fast as they are short and sweet.
Then back to course 2 and this is where I lost my mind. Skip the ball across the water to land on a buoy that will bounce you up to a hole. I'm not sure how that reads, maybe it sounds like fun, but it's not. As you have to get the power of your shot JUST RIGHT otherwise you are going to miss long or short or to either side. After completing about 4 of those ridiculous holes I said screw it and just couldn't do anymore.
It's really to bad too, because this game could have been something special. I feel like they were onto something, but just needed a more coherent directions. I even think the uber difficult courses could have a place in this game; just not where they decided to put it.
If you like golf games, maybe check it out if you have a Netflix account. It might end up being to your liking and as it saves after every hole it's a pretty good pick up and play title. If it wasn't for the difficulty spike I could have gotten way more enjoyment out of it.
I'm extremely interested in what Netflix is doing with their games so I gave this a quick go last night.
It's extremely artistic in its approach and the changes from one hole to the next is extremely satisfying. I'm not sure how much of this I'm going to play put it is definitely a fun approach to mini golf with the brief half hour I played last night.
