Beat. This game was kind of a cross between pure adventure game and the Legend of Zelda. It wishes it was a Link to the Past, but has poor design and mechanics. I liked the presentation, the story book feel and thought balloon icons telling you what to do. The combat was ok but there was not enough of it. What few regular enemies were there were largely pointless. The main point of the combat was the bosses, where you had to use a specific combination of items and spells to win. The world was mostly linear and over used mazes without any kind of in game map. The amount of backtracking was terrible. Worst of all were the on rails mine cart mazes. It boggles my mind how anyone could think that was fun and worth designing. I followed a walkthrough for the entire game. The 2nd mine cart maze was a pain because the walkthrough had incorrect directions, so I had to study a map to figure out the correct path. I did not like the spider boss that forced you to alternate between 2 attack spells, because going into the menu between each attack seriously broke the …

I did not like the spider boss that forced you to alternate between 2 attack spells, because going into the menu between each attack seriously broke the game flow. That and I kept accidentally pressing start instead of select, and pressing select while in the options menu loaded a password save. Wtf. The game really needed a way to use more abilities on the fly. It needed a lot of improvement in all areas and really should have been more like a Zelda game but as a wizard, instead of an adventure game with some action tacked on. Not worth playing but would be worth watching someone else play just to see the presentation.
