Beast Rider is the first Golden Axe game in 3D as opposed to side scrolling hack and slash. While this is a major shift in game style from the previous games, Beast Rider maintains many of the elements from the originals such as magic and riding beasts, as well as sending the player on a quest to defeat Death Adder.

I tried but I couldn't

I won't finish this game. I can't. This shouldn't be named Golden Axe. It is not a proper successor.

Mathijs's review of Golden Axe: Beast Rider

The graphics are out-dated I guess, but it still looks nice. My issue with this game was that in some parts it really gets annoyingly difficult. I almost gave up in some point, but I still managed to finish it. It's too bad that you can't really choose your character, as in the older Golden Axe titles. The beasts are a little bit clumsy to control when you ride them and the game-play gets a little monotone. I do like how the creatures look like in this game, and even though I've cursed a lot, I still wanted to continue playing.

I still think it's not a bad game. I rated it 3 stars and I somehow wish I could give it 3 and a half. It doesn't deserve 4.

I started playing this game in part because of the nostalgia I feel. I remember long evenings playing this saga with my friends, long time ago on the Master System... But this one is a mess of a game. I do not know if I will be able to finish. I will try, promise.

Ni capitaliza la nostalgia, ni crea un universo apetecible ni es bueno jugablemente.
