It's not really a bad stealth game, but it is clearly the marriage of other ideas: Braid and SUPERHOT specifically. When you stop moving you freeze time, but if you get seen then the game ends and you can rewind back to a more peaceful time when you didn't fuck up your entire life. This makes it a little more of a puzzle game than pure stealth, but also makes it a lot more forgiving.
It's kind of awkward to hold down a button to make time progress as you wait, if you don't want to move, so you spend a lot of time hiding in bushes and stuff, with stupid AI who won't see you if you're hiding there. You're constantly escorting Lily around so if she sees you kill someone your relationship will be hurt and that will change the story, and sometimes when you want her to follow you she gets caught up and won't move past guards, other times she'll do it easily... so sometimes you just wait for her to come by. You can murder guards but just make sure she doesn't spot you doing it, otherwise you're stuck distracting them.
Use your grappling hook to awkwardly get up to places, but you still have to clear paths anyway so you can't just launch yourself through the level. That's not a criticism except for when the aforementioned happens and Lily is confused. The physics engine reminded me a lot of Trine, which makes it kinda silly but relatively amusing -- though not to the degree of Trine, which has two excellent installments. I then realized that it was from the same people who made Trine so that makes a lot of sense.
The environments are mundane and the same, so there's not a lot of variety -- which quickly makes it seem tedious, especially when the ideas stop being fresh after a little while. The lore is pretty engaging though, so at least when you're sitting around waiting, there's something interesting to listen to.
That's that. Solid foundation I guess but I don't know if some of these ideas gel. It also lacks polish.
