Rogue Legacy is back! But now it's got a 2 on the end of it! Rogue Legacy 2 is a genealogical rogue-lite. That means it has all the trappings of a typical rogue-like (randomized runs, changing characters, and more), but with persistent upgrades, and persistent dead heirs. In this game, your legacy defines you. Spend your parents’ inheritance and grow the family manor to give your children a better fighting chance. Each child is unique, with their own traits and abilities. Your daughter could be a Ranger. She could also be vegan. It’s a new experience every time. Rogue Legacy 2 also lets you play how you want to. Go hard and fast, and dive deeper into the depths of a randomly-generated world. Or take it slow and steady and build your character up until you’re ready for greater challenges. Read less

Absolute masterpiece in my opinion. One of my favorite Rougelites that was fun to play again and again. Did all the 'regular' achievements without house rules and then enabled house rules for the Thanatwophobia/True Rogue achievement.

This is a perfect example of how to do a sequel.

Every your run starts because you need more resources for upgrades which increase your chance for boss defeating, it's not interesting, it's not fun. Relics and different weapons first time interesting but few hours after it become routine. I don't think that meta-progression it's good point in games, especially in rogulikes, it making your walkthrough longer because you don't have enough damage and hp for defeating bosses.

My favourite rogulieke - Spelunky 2, which give you chance finish it in first run, but if you can't do this, just play more for increase your skill, exploring untold game mechanics like reflected arrows in flight etc.

As result Rogue Legacy 2 it's good game, but I hate meta-progression which lengthens walkthrough.

Man there is so much to unlock in the early game, it is so rewarding. So far I am digging all the classes. Each one has something unique that is fun and makes a run play very differently. I love that the chef can just knock projectiles back toward the attacker. I love that the boxer has a mid-air combo and uppercut. I love the barbarian’s twirling air attack. I love the Valkyrie’s death from above/below attacks. And there are a still a ton more classes to try out.

My main qualm is that there are too many traits that will significantly hamper your run and you might as well abandon that heir. Perfectionist, Hero Complex, and Pacifist are a big pain, just to name a few. I wish there were more traits that were limiting but gave you something fun in return. For example the Diva trait limits your vision to just a spotlight but you get an audience cheering when you clear a room.

I like the paddles on the back of the Steamdeck but for some reason they are taking quite a bit to get used to. In a frantic situation I am definitely scrambling and hitting the wrong ones. When I got my Elite controller I had a similar learning curve but I figured I wouldn’t need that with the deck.

Have you ever played a game that you can't really find any faults with, that you enjoy playing, and that you'd probably score fairly high, but that you just kind of stopped playing and your unsure you want to go back to playing? Super surprised this doesn't have a Switch port. I loved playing the first on Vita, it's a perfect title for handheld.

wow, the first major match for rogue legacy 2 early access is out and it's MASSIVE. way more than i expected! reading through the patch notes is overwhelming but it sounds like in addition to new areas, items, skills, etc, they've also rebalanced just about, like, every aspect of the game?

I recognize this is a very entitled thing to say, but I am really sad they ditched the pixel art of the first game with this sequel:

I am still excited to play it, regardless.
