Thrilling retro run-and-gun action is back with a vengeance in Hard Corps: Uprising, a new 2D side scroller developed by ARC System Works that pays homage to classic Konami action series. Play as the soldier Bahamut as he begins to write his legend. Battle in the grueling trenches of Arcade mode or the all-new RISING mode, where a life bar and point system allow you to purchase items and upgrades to build your soldier up and achieve ultimate victory. Need help? Partner with a friend to lay down some serious carnage.

V1CGaming's review of Hard Corps: Uprising
This review is for the Xbox 360 Games Store version

Griping aside, Hard Corps: Uprising is a game that delivers exactly what it promises. The worst part about Uprising is the lack of balancing. The weapons you'll get and the difficulty don't add up, making it extremely difficult to finish the game. For those that like a challenge, Hard Corps: Uprising just might be the thing they're looking for. It's not for everyone, but for those who appreciate the challenge of old-school gaming, it's a must-buy. This game is exclusively for the hardcore.

The greatest 2D action game ever made. Play it, you'll have more fun than playing 100 bozo platformers on steam.

This is by far the most complex Contra game, featuring dashing, air dashing, bullet reflecting, and the ability to vault over enemie's backs. The game can be played at incredible speed. The level design is fantastic featuring the biggest variety ever in a contra series: wall running up ancient ruins, jumping between crocodile's mouths, auto-scrolling hoverboard sections through a city, a stealth section (the only time I've seen them done well in a 2D game), running through a factory's coveyer builts/crushers while infinitly spawning robots are being built all around you. and even a flying section where you take on a battleship. The soundtrack is killer and pushes an already intense experience into something uncomparable to any other game, except perhaps the origenal Hard Corps.

It also stands as perhaps the most difficult Contra game ever made, it's only competition being Shattered Soldier, but it also comes with an easier mode for softies.
