I wish I Played This When I was Younger
This review is for the Wii version

I am currently finishing a bunch of games I gave up on when I was a kid and I'm glad I went back to this one. This was basically for nostalgia purposes. I liked the music, but most of it was like 8 bars long and kept repeating. They were a great 8 bars, though. The characters were actually pretty lively, with goofy voice acting and silly design. The battle mechanics are unique. Each attack targets a certain limb of the monster, and you need to destroy them all - or the torso, which has way more health - to win. It was not very exhilarating, though. Just press a button and watch the same animation over and over. Same with monster creation. You play mini games with ingredients to build different parts. The ingredients are creative, like different battery parts for mechanical attributes or plants for biological attributes. The mini games were mostly boring and it become a chore to keep playing them. The story itself was not interesting: "Ah! There's a bad guy! Run around and do chores, then defeat him at the end!" Okay. The worst part was the motion controls. Almost nothing was with the nunchuk. …

It was super annoying. This game was just barely interesting enough to see it til the end, and that's coming from someone in their mid 20's. I would totally recommend this game to a child because it is quite creative and engaging, and I wish I didn't wait so long to play it.
