Retrotom's review of Tom and Jerry
This review is for the Game Boy Color version

Tom and Jerry in Mouse Attacks is a platformer with 5 Levels. You play as Jerry and has to liberate your friends from Tom. The objective is to reach the end of a level for which you need some special items like a rocket for flying, a spring for jumping high or an umbrella to float. To get these items you have to play mini games for which you in turn have to pay with collectibles.

Each level is a different room in the house Tom and Jerry live in. The levels are designed very colourful and creative. As Jerry is a small mouse you see every daily stuff like a washing machine, a broom, a lamp or a couch as a massive object from the perspective of a small mouse. And I personally like this change of perspective because it makes the environment interesting.

The music is also lovely created and barely gets out of my head although my playthrough is a few days ago.

The only problem I see are the mini games. They are created interesting and funny but you only get 3 exemplars of the item you need to go on in the level. If you …

The only problem I see are the mini games. They are created interesting and funny but you only get 3 exemplars of the item you need to go on in the level. If you run out of them by failing you have to go back half of the level to replay the mini game. That takes out the pace of the game and requires patience.

All in all it is a nice platforming game but there are also better designed games. For Tom and Jerry fans it is an absolute must have and for those who played it in their childhood, it is worth a replay because it's fun and nostalgic.
