I haven't refunded any games in a long time, but this one was the exception.
What caught my eye initially was how much this game tries to be another Half-Life. The beginning is very similar to the first Half-Life, and there’s even an obvious Easter egg where two scientists talk about the "half-pipe" game.
Right from the start, I had problems with the flashlight - it eventually stopped working, and sometimes reloading the game would fix the bug. Aiming felt uncomfortable because you have to look through a tiny weapon sight, and when you move, the character's hands move too, causing you to lose your aim. In the end, it felt more practical to just "shoot from the hip," even though that came with heavy recoil.
The Combine soldiers The guards are insanely accurate. It feels like they always know when you're aiming at them or trying to reload, which just makes the whole combat feel cheap.
Eventually, I decided to refund it. The game just felt... boring. I know that’s subjective, but for me, it was the deciding factor.
