After trying out every game in the Haunted Manor series, Remembrance (the final game) is easily my favorite. While I definitely enjoyed The Last Reunion as well, this game is just so surreal and wacky, unlike any other HOPA I’ve played.

Despite being made in 2019, it feels like a bizarre relic of the 90s. There is FMV characters, a pastiche of 3D and hand drawn art, and the whole game is just like a surrealist painting. You play as a mysterious friend of a girl named Joanne, who is revisiting her childhood manor to discover the secrets of her deceased family. The game is separated into chapters based on unlocking sections of her mother’s diary by finding important dates in the ever-changing manor.

Eipix is extremely hit or miss for me. Final Cut: The Silver Screen is one of my favorite games in the genre - and now this is too. But many others in their backlog feel generic and skippable. But if you enjoy surreal horror and a throwback 90’s point and click feel- this is highly recommended.

Now to see if I can find any more gems in the extensive Eipix catalog…
