In a nutshell this is a 1993 game that combines aspects of Sonic the Hedgehog, has some enemy and world design inspired by super mario world, and in general has a cutesy sprite sheet and pastel color palette reminiscent of Kirby. But the game itself doesn't quite play like any of those at all.
The game has some unique ideas for a platformer. While there are five stages you have to play them all twice (except the last for some reason)

Each stage starts out drab and dreary with some rather monotone sounding music and you have to wham enemies for magic dust which will transform the dreary world into a more happy and magical place vibrant with color and sound. You can move both left and right and will have to pretty much scour each map to collect that dust. There's often a little extra but some of the enemies to be killed are challenging.

After you collect the needed dust, you gotta find your buddy's Hideout. You then give the magic dust to your magic dragon friend and he'll hook you up with a trip to Happy Land.
Winners might not do drugs but I'm becoming increasingly inclined …

In Happy Land you play the same map but now you have to collect a ton of stars. Big star drops come from some enemies and you have to use a charge attack in later levels to kill them. It feels a little Sonic The Hedgehoggy or Warioish (Just a little) yet looks considerably like Kirby.
Be warned this game is really quite hard beyond the first stage. It's rather slippish and the command to jump is a D pad up. it's easy to make mistakes. The charge attack is also not easy to execute. some enemies are also shooters on a path.
Visually and audio this game is amazing. It's clean and nice looking compared to so many C64 games, has a nice unique style about it as well. I suppose that's why it's a popular one. It is a rather short game if you wanna cheat through it and it plays quite quick.
Like what a totally weird looking game. In addition to the points mentioned i feel the fact its a UK game but looks like a japanese (master system era) type Kirby-ish adventure is a bit of a paradox.
