Main game

Saw this was (slightly) on sale and I just went for it the other night. Finally got to give it a try yesterday.
It's not what I was expecting so far, but it's cute and it'll be good when I just have a bit of downtime and don't want to really invest in a long play session.
Basic gameplay is exploring the town and surrounding areas, talking to the various inhabitants, running errands for them to earn recipes, making those recipes (and you wanna get 3 stars), giving them the results, and earning a sky train token in return. Apparently you need 100 tokens to ride the sky train. No idea if that's like, end game, or opens up an area later on, because getting 100 will take some time. There are also areas branching off from the main town that are currently barricaded with signs saying "requires 7 tokens to pass" and such, so they're multi-purpose. Edit to add how "cooking" works: From screenshots, I thought it was gonna be like a rhythm game, and it's...not quite. There's a bar running across the screen that corresponds to each of the ABXY buttons, and ingredients slide across them. You wanna …

There's a bar running across the screen that corresponds to each of the ABXY buttons, and ingredients slide across them. You wanna press the button when good ingredients hit the center, and avoid hitting the fish bones, rotten star cookies, etc. Possible to earn 1-3 stars, and you have to earn 3 to give the dish to an inhabitant.
There are various shops for the ingredients that you'll need, and you can get coins by whacking specific types of grass around town/routes between areas with your ladle. Overall very simple.
I know there are spells but I haven't gotten any yet. I have about 15 active quests where I've earned the recipe but haven't made it for the inhabitant who gave it to me. I've only made two recipes so far. For whatever reason I was expecting there to be more of a town-building aspect to this, or like building up a cafe? Maybe that's still a thing, as I know I haven't seen everything.
This looks cute and I wanna play it.
Not gonna drop $30 on it right now when I have like six billion other games to play first, but I WANT IT.
