Article: Renovating A Haunted Hotel Isn’t Easy, But It Is Quite Musical by Eric Van Allen
There Are No Ghosts at the Grand is a musical, yes. But rather than showtunes or Gilbert & Sullivan, it draws on other veins of UK influence: ska, punk, and reggae. Glendinning name-checks bands like The Specials, The Clash, Madness, and The Selector in our chat. These influences run parallel to the broader vibe of small, seaside British town horror, too, with splashes of Doctor Who in there for good measure.
Demo for this game is available. Not sure where I first heard of this. If it was just a Steam recommendation or I saw it on here.
Since it promised both ghosts and renovation gameplay I was interested. It's also got a seemingly involved story and it's a musical, which surprised me at first when people broke out into song.
This is the first game of an indie developer and it seems super ambitious, maybe a bit too ambitious with all the different things they are mashing into one game, but I liked it and it's on my wish list now.
